Museum of making @ Derby

Arms! Lots of ceramic doll arms.
creepy, dismembered, makes me think of war/ death

Interactive woven sculpture with lights that change colour. I really liked the connection with weaving and technology, a really interesting looking sculpture, linking a lot of history of the building as a silk mill, the idea of future industry l.

Scale model of the lake district made from lego. Really impressive. I've had many happy hours as a kid and with my son making lego. I've done prints with lego dots and I think about the artist who fills in broken and missing parts of urban architecture with lego.

Great to small scale version of Rachel Carter's new work " Standing in this place"
A 3d printed sculpture based of two Nottingham women who took part in  a dance workshop that was set up for the project to find models for the sculpture.
The museum features her work with the story of its development and then artistic reactions from artists as well as items from the collection that connect to the themes of the work.
The work connects English women working in textile Mills with enslaved women who produced the cottons for the Mills and how their lives were similar and interconnected

Seeing this I now can identify the bid skull I found and gilded for my St Mary's project was a Jay like this.
